The main setting is Mame's apartment. We're planning on a large curved
stair case at center going up to Mame's bedroom.
Well, our design for the stairs has changed just a bit. Click here to see
what we've come up with.

out the rotating
flats we built to help show the progressive changes in Mame's apartment.
We set up our model to play with staging. Playing with the model helps
visualize how the set pieces will relate to each other.
The set seemed a bit large so we removed one of the big units to see
what it would look like. As I saw the result, it occurred to me to have the
upper hallway wall fly in. Instead of being attached to the big box unit.
This will also allow us to use more of the space above.
The salon scene is a small but important. We're putting the unit on a
single 4x8 platform with flats that will open to reveal the action.
The story has a boy come to live with Mame. He arrives when he is fairly
young, but the play proceeds to his older years. A song serves the
transition in his age allowing the actor to be switched. Ah, the tricky part
is that this happens during the song. We're building a small
Turntable with
the two actors split, on either side of a turning wall.

of the turntable turning.
We're making folding frames for our
Platform units. These frames are
very strong. They are connected at the corners with hinges allowing us to
fold for storage.
