I will be presenting “Lighting Plots via Origami” at the Georgia Thespian Conference, aka ThesCon. Date/time to be announced.

How easy, or hard, is it to figure out what lighting units you need to cover your stage? I have do this fun presentation about how to use a plain piece of printer paper to figure out lighting unit angles for area coverage. Do you need a 50deg, or a 36deg unit to hit an area 20 feet wide? From how far from the stage and from the floor would be the next question.

During my paper folding session, I will show attendees how to use plain paper to figure out these angles. I will also show how to use the standard dimensions of the same paper to help layout hanging positions and unit locations.

Check back here for more. I am planning on writing an article on this technique.
